Job Title: RN Med Surg Job Specialty: EMC Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 per week Experience: 1 year of experience License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Patient Care experience, RN License, ACLS Job Description: - Provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex under general supervision. - Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. - Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients. - Assists physicians in the examination of patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. - Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary. - Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. - Delivers patient care competently and interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and during discharge. - Informs patient and family of hospital procedures. - Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. - Delegates tasks to support staff and performs other duties as assigned. - Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. - Organizes, plans, coordinates, and evaluates nursing services and applies nursing techniques. - Maintains good working relationships with other employees. - Communicates effectively with good verbal and written skills. - Responds effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. - Utilizes some computer skills.
